salamander's new track, "xylem", is a haunting and hypnotic trip that allows the band members to create enough space for the big sounds they create without feeling too vast to be comfortable. Fans of Yo La Tengo, Spirit of the Beehive, and Swirlies should make sure to give it a listen.

'The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here', while not nearly as outwardly anguished or thunderous as 1992’s 'Dirt', still stands as a much more refined version of the band. In some ways, Alice in Chain’s fifth album was their second run at writing a sophomore album as a band, and probably the more successful of the two. It holds up.
