Premiere: Woolbright – “I Know It Hurts”

If you missed reading about the first release from this split—check it out here!

On the capitalized flipside of their 7” split with Absinthe Father, “I Know it Hurts” is one of the two new tracks from Florida’s own Woolbright. It’s angelic; introduced by a soft, sincere sample of rainfall peppered with rolls of thunder, and cascading with vocal harmonies that just glitter. The juxtaposition of what is pre-conceived to be the sound of dread next to the endearing lyricism of “You deserve love / You deserve light / You deserve to move forward” turns the song from melancholy to uplifting and reassuring. After the release of a full-length LP from the group in August, this is a stripped back version of Woolbright, featuring just their lead vocalist Candice, but the sound is full and strong and comes with the same swell of power that their full band tracks possess.

“I Know it Hurts” is the second single off the upcoming 7” split between Absinthe Father and Woolbright, releasing October 29th and featuring two new tracks from each artist. Accompanied by album art by Simona Morales, the vinyl is notably the first physical release that Absinthe Father has done. Limited to 269 units and pressed in a transparent sage green, it’s a work of art musically and visually that would be foolish to miss out on.

Every vinyl pre-order is entered in a chance to win a test press of the vinyl—order yours here.
