Silktail’s newest LP In Your Own Shade is one of 2022’s most slept-on. The band draws from emo, grunge, and powerpop in equal measure, ending up with an indie rock cocktail that’s got a little bit of something for everyone. It’s a truly impressive debut record, one that suggests the Waverly, Michigan, fourpiece are capable of something even better in the future.

If you need more convincing, look no further than b-side opener “Haven.” A midtempo alt-rock blur, the song shows off a little bit of everything that makes In Your Own Shade such a slam dunk, and we’re stoked to bring you an exclusive premiere of the song’s new music video. The band shares

“Filmed on location at Grave Danger collectibles shop, the video finds our protagonist trying and ultimately failing to find comfort in nostalgia. It was produced, directed, and shot by local Lansing filmmaker Kaitlin Lenhard and stars Setterwind Records label runner Luke LaFountain, who also helped to release the album.”

It’s a fitting video for the track, which features a melodic refrain of “What am I holding onto?” Heavy stuff. Check out the video for “Haven” below.

In Your Own Shade is out now on Setterwind Records.
