Premiering the video for “Nonchalant” off Red Foreman’s debut EP, The Universe Doesn’t Give A Shit About You, which was was produced by Mat Kerekes.

Red Foreman is the project of Illinois songwriter Alex Baker.  Across the EP’s six tracks, Baker crafts melody-first indie rock about his own back-and-forth relationship with what it means to care. His pop sensibilities shine on songs like “Hopeless,” and especially on EP-opener “Nonchalant.”

Fortunately, that particular 90’s-indebted rocker now has an equally-inspired visual to boot. The video comes from Toledo film-maker Chance Duffy; you may know him from his work with Secret Space, Mat Kerekes, and Matt Pryor (The Get Up Kids). Here, he turns casual footage of tourists at Niagra Falls into a perplexing cartoon seagull dance. Its one of the year’s most charming videos, for a track I absolutely can’t get out of my head.
