Track Premiere: Talk Show Host – “Blood in the Sand”

Posted: by The Editor

Talk Show Host might be from Toronto, but their music is as summer- and surf-ready as any California pop band’s. The alt rock three-piece is following up last year’s standalone “This Monologue” single with a full-length LP –– their very first, in fact. It’s called Mid-Century Modern, and it’s out on June 4 via Wiretap Records. If that sounds exciting, even more exciting is that we’re premiering the first single today.

It’s called “Blood in the Sand,” and it’s a powerpop gem. Singer/guitarist Chris Veinot says that the song’s “lyrics recount the plot of a non-existent delinquent teen movie I dreamed about during a full moon, something from the mid-to-late 60s that could’ve been directed by Al Adamson or Ray Dennis Steckler. The title doesn’t sound like what the song sounds like, but it was the name of the picture in the dream.” It’s as catchy and lighthearted as it sounds.

The song’s music video, premiering today, is a blast too. Starring Mila, the band’s pet cat, it’s adorable and sweet. Check out “Blood in the Sand” below.
