Nagasaki Swim is the latest project from songwriter Jasper Boogaard, who earlier this year collaborated with Roel van der Meulen on an absolutely gorgeous ambient record called PLACE. After an internship at Headroom Studios in Philadelphia, Boogaard headed back to his hometown of Rotterdam where he began to reflect on his time in both the States and the Netherlands, wishing that he could somehow be in two different places at once. These experiences sparked a new batch of songs unlike anything Boogaard had made before and The Mirror, his debut album as Nagasaki Swim, is a collection of wandering alt-country that draws from artists like LVL UP and Mount Eerie. Album opener “Company,” which we’re stoked to be premiering below, sounds a lot like the kind of stuff on the two most recent Slaughter Beach, Dog albums, which is a good thing. It’s a guided meditation on learning how to be present in the moment and an excellent showcase of Boogaard’s many talents.
