Track Premiere: half kidding – “Bella”

Posted: by The Editor

There’s a comfort in familiarity. Knowing that others feel stuck in the same ways that you do but find a way of working through that and creating something powerful as a result of that. It’s exactly what half kidding does in their debut single, Bella. Combining the talents of former members of the bands American Spirits and Floor Candy, the band blends heavy instrumentals while still maintaining space for vulnerable vocals that some times only exist in quieter moments. While the song seems like an ode to a friend going through a difficult time upon first listen, the song was actually written about a dog which only makes the sentiment sweeter.

As drummer Conor Alan shares, “Bella was written at Sled Fest this past year! Trey wrote it about Addie’s (of the venue Panda Palace) dog Bella and her experience being kept in the garage and backyard during the loud music festivities. She was given plenty of love and pets from the entire band, as well as all of the festival attendees, but Trey felt she deserved more.”

The song will be up on streaming platforms May 6.  The band’s singer, Kate Logan, will be performing a set on The Summit Shack’s livestream this Friday, May 8th, with Beach Bunny, Save Face, The Sonder Bombs and Short Fictions.
