On Tired and True, the upcoming EP from Floating Room, Portland songwriter/artist Maya Stoner takes full control of the project amidst a number of changes in their personal life, resulting in some of the most exhilarating and inspired music Stoner has made to date. Almost every song on the EP finds Stoner experimenting with a new sound, and previous singles like the woozy and hypnotic “Held Open Door” and the breezy yet cutting opener “Freak Show” are a testament to how reinvigorated the project sounds with Stoner working on their own terms. Today we’re stoked to be premiering the third single off the EP, “Warm Death (HIFI),” which recalls the warmth and intimacy of artists like Jay Som who make saccharine bedroom pop that’s brimming with purpose. “Warm Death (HIFI),” which reimagines “Warm Death” from Floating Room’s 2016 debut Sunless, finds Stoner’s pop sensibilities on display once again, featuring a blissful arrangement of keyboards and guitars that slowly melt like an ice cream cone on a warm summer’s day.
