Track Premiere: En Garde — “Our Hands”

Posted: by The Editor

With recent releases from Thank You, I’m Sorry, The Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick, and Camp Trash, it’s safe to say that Count Your Lucky Stars is back and better than ever. En Garde, the duo of Ross Horvath (A Voice Like Rhetoric) and Andy Hendricks (Annabel), are the latest act to sign with the veteran emo label, and their music fits right at home with all of those aforementioned bands. Their debut EP Debtors is comprised of a collection of songs that the band tracked way back in 2012 at Headroom Studios, but even nearly a decade later they still sound as fresh or exciting as anything else in the scene.

Today we’re stoked to be premiering “Our Hands,” the EP’s fiery and explosive lead single, where punctured grooves and soaring vocal lines make way for some truly anthemic rock music. There’s definitely shades of bands like Thrice and mewithoutYou all over “Our Hands” but what’s most impressive is how massive it all sounds, giving every other two-piece around a run for their money. About the song, Horvath said it “…was one of the first songs we wrote. Even though we’d never worked on a project together before, it just felt very natural and uncompromised for us. Definitely one of our favorite tracks and one that served as a cornerstone for shaping our sound.”
