You might know of Big Nothing through their bonafides: the band is comprised of Spraynard’s Pat Graham, Crybaby’s Matt Quinn, Casual’s Liz Parsons, and Young Livers’ Chris Jordan. The Philly band’s sound, however, has more in common with Big Star than the members’ resumes. “Monday Morning” has all the jangle of a Superdrag song and the verve of the Replacements.

“Monday Morning” is the first of two singles Big Nothing is releasing in January. Written and recorded with the sessions that make up their debut album Chris, “Monday Morning” borrows from some of their more laid back influences. The song’s lyrics, written by Pat Graham, describe a run in with a stranger. Graham wrote the lyrics observing a passerby and imagining all the stories every person has to tell, trying to accept that none of us are impervious to fault while we are all capable of greatness. Every person you see has a story to tell and a reason to keep on keeping on.

The band is in the process of writing a new album to follow up 2019’s Chris, which you can stream/purchase on their Bandcamp.
