The Weeknd Live in Massachusetts

Last week we got to see The Weeknd live in Massachusetts. With the release of his latest album Hurry Up Tomorrow and an accompanying film by the same name, the R&B singer is at the peak of his career — and is ready to call it quits. Which begs the question, is it better to burn out or fade away?

It is hard to want to keep the project alive when over a decade of mental health and drug struggles are directly tied to it. The set pieces for this tour are directly inspired by that disillusionment too. Crumbling cities, cloaked dancers, and The Weeknd himself in a mask hiding his true self and what his inner psyche is like. This still didn’t stop him from putting on a career defining show.

Since the record breaking success of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour, it seems artists are more open to going deep in their catalogue and playing B-Sides usually skipped over. While this could arguably just be called a normal setlist, when you start racking up 41 songs over a two and half hour set it’s clear there’s a mutual respect for those who have been there since the beginning and those just jumping on the bandwagon. Most notably, “Kiss Land” making its way into the setlist was equally eventful as the hits “Blinding Lights” and “The Hills”. With all subliminal messaging from The Weeknd that this may be the final tour it truly is now or never to hear these songs live. Whether the “After Hours” trilogy was your introduction to The Weeknd or you’ve been around since the House of Balloons days, there is something for everyone at these soon to be sold out shows. We recommend getting tickets HERE now!
