Interview: Gulfer Really Feel Like Themselves

Gulfer meld together a melodic but mathy rock with the gripping wail of emo punk, and on their self-titled LP they draw in other influences: the shimmering, distant production aesthetics of shoegaze and the bright electronics they dabbled with on their 2018 record 'Dog Bless'. Jordan spoke to the band about their new record and band life in 2020.

With the scene’s saturation of artists fueled by Midwestern emo stylization, it is easy for releases to blend in. However, I haven’t heard a record stand out as brightly and notably as Gulfer’s 'Dog Bless' in a long time.
