Song Premiere: Runaway Brother – “Ok Desu Ka”

Posted: by The Alt Editing Staff

Runaway Brother, in the parlance of X–The Everything App, is BACK back. September saw the release of their first new track since 2018, “Secret Technique,” and now the Ohio indie rockers are back with another single. This one’s called “Ok Desu Ka,” and it might be even better than “Secret Technique.” It’s a driving, energetic romp that could’ve appeared on new pocket. If you thought they might’ve lost their spark in the time since that album, the first fifteen seconds of “Ok Desu Ka” will alleviate those fears. If you’re new to Runaway Brother, imagine if The Sidekicks hadn’t hung it up, or if Oso Oso went even bigger and hookier.

The song officially releases tomorrow, but we’ve got an exclusive premiere of “Ok Desu Ka” below. You won’t want to wait, trust me. About the track, vocalist/guitarist Jacob Lee shares that

“Ok Desu Ka” is a song we recorded together back in 2020. As I’m sure you can guess, it was a somewhat tumultuous time. It’s a song about plans being ruined but recycled into new plans through determination and fence-hopping. This song is kind-of the polar opposite of “Secret Technique” on the Runaway Brother spectrum. Instead of dark and almost brooding, it’s bright and spirited. Oh, and it’s got some of those RB-mandated Earthbound references, as some RB songs should.

Check out “Ok Desu Ka” below.
