Song Premiere: Morning Eagle – “Royal Ivy (Feat. Yassaman Rahimi)”

Posted: by The Editor

Long Beach, CA has a hidden community that’s ripe with some of the most low-key talented artists making authentic music and one of them is Nicholas May’s shoegaze/alternative rock project Morning Eagle. Following his previous single “War of Roses” released earlier in June, “Royal Ivy” unfurls into deep driving bass lines that teeter back and forth to create the sort of motion sickness you’d expect from sonic titans like Swervedriver before offering up thick colorful guitar melodies and syrupy vocals that glide straight into a singular and surprisingly brusque caterwaul. Featuring guest vocals from Yassaman Rahimi, we are stoked to premiere the latest single off his upcoming EP Something Will Find You.

On the single Nicholas shares:

“’Royal Ivy’ was written last summer and recorded at Couch Studios in Long Beach, California. It was the first new song I wrote for this EP. The song is basically about processing unfulfilled expectations. It centers around finding myself in a situation, wanting it to end, yet reflecting on it as if it were already in the past, despite currently experiencing it. The song title is mostly unrelated, inspired by former NBA player Royal Ivey.

Check out the exclusive premiere below:

Something Will Find You is out on September 8th through Setterwind Records and will be available to order on vinyl.

EP Tracklist:

1. Something Will Find You (Feat. Jacob Weston of Silktail)

2. War of Roses

3. Royal Ivy (Feat. Yassaman Rahimi)

4. Monarch
