I’m really excited to be streaming the new record from Chicago’s The Glass Eyes. On their sixth full-length effort, The Ocean’s Over There, the trio crafts an invigorating blend of indie rock reminiscent of various eclectic indie rock giants like Built to Spill, Elliott Smith, and Nick Drake.

Chris Jones, (guitarist & vocalist), said that when it came to the new record, the band’s main influences were Neil Young, REM, Nick Drake, Duster, and Big Star, which really comes through on tracks like “Downer’s Grove” and “Boxing.”

If you’re in the Chicago area, the group will be playing at the Elbo Room on February 26th with Old Joy and Birthday Club.

The Ocean’s Over There is out now via Grandpa Bay Recordings. You can download it on Bandcamp.
