Premiere: Taking Meds ‘I Hate Me’

Posted: by The Editor

By now you should all know who Taking Meds are. Earlier this year we premiered two singles from their forthcoming debut, I Hate Me. The Brooklyn/Rochester group have truly refined their technical take on punk into something truly ingenuous and re-playable.

The band states that the record thematically deals with coming to terms with insecurities and character defects when going through recovery from substance abuse. Underneath it all though is a wildly proficient mathcore-leaning infusion that Taking Meds have curated their own tiny corner of punk with. Keeping a music nerd excited isn’t easy work, but Taking Meds haven’t left our radar and it’s doubtful they ever will.

In support of the album’s release, the band recently embarked on a U.S. tour with record release shows scheduled in Fort Wayne, Rochester, Brooklyn, and Jersey Shore. Due out 7.12 on Near Mint Records, I Hate Me is streaming early in its entirety below, where you can also check out their full tour routing and preorder link.
