Track Premiere: Backtalk – “Reptilian Control System”

Backtalk

Akron, OH is home to a bustling DIY scene. Bands like Backtalk are quickly becoming local staples, and for good reason. Since 2013, the Nü-punk duo has been hard at work throwing shows at their house venue The Overlook, touring, and perfecting their chaotic blend of emo in the process.

Their incredible new sophomore LP Analog Parts is a perfect display of the growth the band has experienced since their 2015 debut I Have Found a Home in the Belly of a Ghost and is a step in a more experimental direction. In terms of composition, the songwriting feels more robust and mature, like on the opener “Reptilian Control System”.

The track travels from abrasive and chaotic moments to melodic harmony with precision and prowess, ultimately culminating in a fury of harsh noise and blasting drums similar to The Reptilian or Droughts. Stream “Reptilian Control System” at the link below:

Backtalk is set to release Analog Parts on 1/19 via Small Mammal Records and Cat Dad Cassettes, which you can find pre-orders for here.
