After a long hiatus, The Sound of Animals Fighting are back! The supergroup consisting of members of Circa Survive, Hospital Gown, and other bands, the group create an intense blend of emocore, math rock, and post-hardcore. However, I do not think those genre descriptions even do the band justice. Their collaboration of strengths in their performance are what make The Sound of Animals Fighting such a pleasure to listen to and even more enjoyable to see live. Their latest EP, Apesh*t, revitalized their sound and opened the envelope further to introduce new sounds. The band played off of this, and their old records at a packed house at NYC’s Webster Hall. With opening acts, Concrete Castles and Hail the Sun, the night was certainly high energy. Sarah was there taking photos, check them out:
