Photography: Firefly Fest Day 3 and 4
Posted: by The Alt Editing Staff
Firefly Fest returned to the woodlands of Delaware with an explosive lineup, the biggest in the festival’s history. Even though many acts from the 2020 lineup had to drop from the 2021 edition, Firefly was able to grab headlining-commanding artists who were on the rise throughout 2020. The expanded lineup allowed the festival to extend the event into four days instead of the usual three. If you missed our day one and two pictures, be sure to check them out here!
Fest attendees who showed up for the first two days of Firefly got a head start, learning the festival grounds ahead of the weekend rush. Crowds packed in for the weekend line up which started with us making our way over to JXDXN and Badflower who both made a stop at the fest before continuing with their planned tours.
As the afternoon started to roll around, we moved towards the main stage as Oliver Tree came out with his highly anticipated set, followed by Remi Wolf with a surprise appearance from Dominic Fike before his main stage set immediately after.
After we saw Fike control the festival crowd like no other, we sat down to catch our breath and hydrate. Once we found our second wind, we watched back-to-back sets by up and coming superstar Caroline Polachek amaze her dedicated fans, Glass Animals trance-out the crowd with mesmerizing visuals, Madeon with an introspective visual show, and Roddy Ricch close out the backyard stage performing his hit “The Box” twice in celebration.
Closing out Saturday night of the fest is no small feat but Tame Impala sealed the show with their psychedelic performance backed by trippy visuals and a hypnotic light show.
While waking up Sunday hit us with the realization that the weekend was almost over, we rejoiced at the fact that we still had a day piled with heavy-hitting artists to send us out cheerfully. We showed up early to see Middle Kids on their trip over here from Australia. Denzel Curry revived thousands of us, hyping up the crowd for the day ahead.
After being rejuvenated by Denzel’s set, we were able to catch 2000’s pop legend, Nelly, followed by Grandson and Lovelytheband on their journeys to being the next biggest pop rock act.
Before catching the final two headliners of the 2021 lineup, we ventured one last time to the Treehouse stage to see Gracie Abrams as she garnered the largest crowd the stage hsd seen throughout the weekend for an emotional performance. Needing a pick-me-up after her heartfelt performance, we venture back into the heart of the festival grounds to see the final two acts, Machine Gun Kelly and Lizzo, close out the jam packed weekend.
While we are sad to wave goodbye to the weekend in the woodlands, we were happy to have been a part of it for all four days and hope to see everyone again next year! Until then, stay safe so it can come back bigger than ever in 2022.
