Charli XCX is a force to be reckoned with. The pop star has spent the pst few years redefining what it means to be a big artist in pop music, taking leaps out of safety circles and trying new things while still collaborating with some of the other most popular pop musicians right now (Troye Sivan, Clairo, Carly Rae Jepsen, Sky Ferreira, HAIM, Lizzo etc). The best part of Charli actually shines through with these collabs, which submerge these artists deep in her realm of industrial, synergy rave music. On her latest album, Charli is back with a vengeance after her first attempt at a third studio album was leaked and later scrapped back in 2017. instead of reworking the songs, she took all of that frustration and disdain and channeled it into one of the most emotionally vulnerable records pop has seen this decade.

Her live show was constructed upon the futuristic theme present on ‘Charli’. Two enormous, ominous cubes stand resolute behind the artist as she commands the stage by herself, aside from a chance appearance from an eccentric group of queens who came out and mopped the floor with their dance routine during “Shake It”. If her latest album didn’t prove it enough, Charli is resilient, and as unstoppable as ever
