Governor’s Ball 2024: Who to See, What to Eat, and More!

This June, the annual Governors Ball Music Festival returns to New York City, and with it will come performances by some of today’s biggest stars like Post Malone, 21 Savage, SZA, Sabrina Carpenter, The Killers, and more. We promise there’s something for everyone at all times of the day, as well as delicious food and beverage options for when you’re looking to take a break.

When & Where

This year’s Governors Ball will take place on the weekend of June 7-9th, with the schedule each day running from roughly noon to 10pm. The festival will take place in Queens, NY in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, right next to the Citi Field baseball stadium. It’s a short walk from the Mets-Willets Point Station on the 7 subway line, and the Long Island Rail Road commuter train will also service the venue for those looking for a more direct route into Manhattan or out to other parts of Long Island.

If you prefer a visual, here is an updated NYC subway map.

Schedule

The full schedule of performances for each day can be found here. Performances that will have official sign language interpreters are also marked on these schedules, a great inclusion for accessibility!

Food & Beverage

Grab an Aperol Spritz or get a free sample of grilled cheese from the Cabot Cruiser while you enjoy your time at the fest. The full 2024 food and drink lineup can be found here, and there’s plenty of variety to get your taste buds tingling. Get some Mac and Cheese from Mac Truck NYC, tacos from Tica’s Tacos, or enjoy local food right from Queens at Mao’s BBQ, Eemas Cuisine, and more. Vegan, Gluten-Free, and Vegetarian options are also available. And don’t worry, the festival organizers certainly didn’t forget about dessert – doughnuts, cookies, and ice cream will all be plentiful.

Lineup

The 2024 lineup is packed with talent, from big names to small. We want to highlight a couple artists each day that we think you should check out.

Friday

Blondshell – GovBallNYC Stage, 1:00-1:30

This indie singer-songwriter grew up right in Manhattan. Formerly known as BAUM, she’s taken her music in a new direction under the Blondshell name with groovy melodies and a more unplugged sound than her pop past. Catch her early on Friday!

Ryan Beatty – GovBallNYC Stage, 3:15-4:00

Ryan Beatty is fresh off a hugely successful tour which promoted his newest album, Calico. His serene, relaxing sound will be perfect to close your eyes and listen along to during the summer afternoon. In addition to his own music, Beatty also co-wrote four songs on Beyoncé’s latest album – an impressive achievement!

Dominic Fike – GovBallNYC Stage, 6:30-7:30

While he may be well-known for his role as Elliot on the hit show Euphoria, Dominic Fike is also extremely talented on the musical front. You’ve probably heard “3 Nights” before, and his other songs will be just as fun to see performed live. Rap, rock, alternative – Fike does a little bit of everything! Catch him right before Post Malone’s headlining set.

Saturday

Sabrina Carpenter – GovBallNYC Stage, 4:50-5:45

Sabrina Carpenter has had quite the successful year. Opening for Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” and gaining popularity worldwide, she is truly setting an example for the future of female pop stars. You’ll hear hits like “because i liked a boy” and “Feather” as Carpenter effortlessly commands the stage. If anything, you’ll want to catch the end of her set to see what clever, probably inappropriate, joke she comes up with during the outro of her song “Nonsense.”

Doechii – GoPuff Stage, 4:05-4:50

“Hi, my name’s Doechii with two i’s” is the opening line to this rapper’s viral hit “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake.” Since then, she’s also released hugely successful hits like “What It Is” and “Persuasive,” the latter of which in collaboration with Gov Ball headliner SZA set to perform the following day. If you’re a fan of hip-hop, come check out her set before Sexyy Red and 21 Savage play right after!

d4vd – IHG Stage, 5:00-5:45

You might know d4vd from his viral hit “Here With Me,” but there’s much more to this 18-year-old indie singer with quite the powerhouse of a voice. He started out as a gaming and lifestyle content creator before trying out music and songwriting. Producing much of his own music, d4vd’s music has even made its way onto the international charts.

Sunday

Geese – IGH Stage, 2:40-3:20

Looking to try out something a little different? Brooklyn-based Geese will bring a unique sound to the IGH Stage on Saturday. Classified technically as post-punk, the 4-piece band delivers catchy tunes with a hint of rock and roll thrown in as well.

Stephen Sanchez – IHG Stage, 6:15-7:00

It’s “Sanchez, Baby!” Stephen Sanchez’ set is directly competing with Reneé Rapp’s, but if you’re more into some jazz or up to seeing some Elvis-inspired outfits and dance moves, you might want to check out Sanchez’ set instead. He’s only 21, but his passion for 50’s and 60’s music and culture stands out in his performance and stage persona.

Chappell Roan – GovBallNYC Stage, 3:15-4:00

Dubbed “L.A.’s queer pop superstar” by the LA Times and having gained popularity opening for Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts tour, Roan brings pop perfection to her performances along with some pretty neat sparkly cowboy-themed outfits. Grab your Western attire and come learn the “HOT TO GO!” dance at Roan’s set!
