Getting Ready for Firefly Festival 2019

Posted: by The Editor

Firefly Fest is coming up quick (T-minus 48 hours, are you all packed?!) and I’m so eager to get down to it as our official photographer for the fest. The lineup this year is a celebration of the past and present, with artists that have continually pushed the envelope in music and have managed to stay relevant in a perpetually shifting scene.

Friday sets a precedent with top tier headliners Panic! at the Disco, Tyler the Creator, and Zedd. During your lunch breaks leading up to the festival, dive into some Wiki How articles on preparing for a festival with hydration, staying up late, and eating properly – maybe even  bust out that fanny pack from your parent’s attic to carry around essentials. Timing for shows is always difficult because they all come to Boston on the same day over here so being able to catch X Ambassadors, Sir Sly, Courtney Barnett all in the same day will hopefully fulfill everyone’s show dreams like it will for me. Heres to hoping you read up and paced yourself properly, because you’ll be catching three enormous headliners right before settling into your tent for the night.

After a night of pregaming, festival goers can expect a weekend curated for the curious in nature; with stacked lineups from openers to headliners. Every band is on this bill for a reason and crafted with individuality in mind to entice listeners across a wide array of genres. Unlike other festivals throwing artists on the bill just because of their size, every artist performing brings something unique to the table. You’ll see me running between Joywave, SABA, and a stripped down Andrew McMahon set; to shoveling food from one of the local food joints catering. Later on, catch me pacing over to see The Midnight (my personal favorite of the weekend), Hippo Campus, Travis Scott, and Passion Pit. There are countless sets in between those I hope to find myself and everyone else floating between to truly get the most out of this packed lineup.

To conclude the massive weekend, we’ll be witness to some of the most awaited sets of 2019. Vampire Weekend will be performing songs off of their first album in six years alongside Walk The Moon, Post Malone, and Yungblud. There truly is something for everyone at Firefly – even vegan food vendors (believe me I checked). To top it off, if you didn’t make a spontaneous decision to drive halfway across the country to Delaware for a music fest and have to make it home for work come Monday, you can stick around and even catch DJ Snake to close out the night.

If you’ll be there, let us know what you’re excited to see (or eat?) and say hi if you see us!
