2016 is winding down, but great releases are still coming out. Here, Eli Enis reviews three of them.

Blink-182 has seen some ups and downs over the last decade plus of their history, including a few hiatuses, a break-up, a reformation, and now the replacement of front man Tom Delonge with Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba. Whether loved or hated, there’s no denying that this would be a dramatic statement piece of an album. So what did this new Blink-182 have to say?

To try to label the record with a genre would discredit how diverse it is. While the songwriting remains unfiltered, at times it finds itself shy and hides between impressive fills courtesy of drummer Jeff Malt and a rhythm so addictive created by bassist Evan Moorehead and guitarist Brendan Lukens that you barely notice the retreat.

The EP is SO simple sounding but within the simplicity is the sound of someone who has so studiously picked out completely specific sounds on the bass, or an exact element of echo to use on the vocals to provide a pinpoint precise ~feeling~ that you can’t shake.

Never did Dean’s sound and message feel so inherent and unaffected as it does on Secret Space’s debut LP, The Window Room.

Pkew Pkew Pkew manage to pack in 21 minutes of boisterous, nostalgia-inducing punk rock in 11 tracks.

Yes Yes A Thousand Times Yes are both a mouthful to namedrop, and an earful to take in.

Overall, Architects have composed yet another metalcore “opera” which will hit you like a ton of bricks, just as we’ve come to expect at this point.
