Weakened Friends – ’95’ Premiere

Posted: by Sean Gonzalez

As if rightfully being named after the interstate that connects the East Coast, Boston/Portland (Maine)’s Weakened Friends newest single, “95” drives home an infectious song with the catchiest of melodies. Sonia Sturino’s trembling vocals have you believing that every thing will be alright; seemingly inspired from the 90s with quivering honesty spewing from Spurino’s vocal box. The soft harmonies coming through in the chorus add to the delivery, trying to enhance the assurance that things will be okay. It’s a song that is dynamically punk power pop, with bassist Annie Hoffman and drummer Cam Jones creating the lively pulse for the newest song that will be rolling in your head all day. Crushed will be released July 22nd on vinyl thanks to Counter Intuitive Records. Four color variants are available, 100% profit goes to the band and each vinyl is $10 (which includes the debut EP Gloomy Tunes as well on the same vinyl, free on bandcamp). This is one hell of a deal and one hell of an LP, make sure your summer be full of Weakened Friends and be prepared for long drives with the windows down singing every word of every song.
