Easy Creatures – “Fontanelle” Song Premiere

Posted: by Sean Gonzalez

Veterans of the Philadelphia music community Jeff Tirabassi and Joey Simpers (Walleye) have come together as Easy Creatures with the help of Mark McKinney, Paul Butterfly and Greg Polard. After decades of playing music in other bands through Jade Tree, this formation is technically a super group. Easy Creatures is already sparking through the Jade Tree shade of light by opening for Dogs On Acid for the Twenty Five Years compilation release show. With the help of Self Aware Records, Easy Creatures is releasing their first EP entitled Low Fidelity in April. “Fontanelle” is premiering first however, giving a glimpse of the sound that the group captured while writing the record. The single shows the bands raw nature gleaming through rather harmonious guitar progressions.

Greg on lyrics for Fontanelle: I had read an interview somewhere with Paul Westerberg where he was talking about how quickly the Replacements got over trying to fit in with the punk scene and how ironic it was that essentially the scene mantra is “be different, be just like us”.  “Fontanelle” is my take on that irony within the punk/HC scene.

Jeff: The songs for this session were our first with new singer, Greg Polard (One Up) and started to determine a new musical path. Then immediately after this was recorded we welcomed our new bass player, Paul Butterly (Kill Verona/Little League). That new path just met a fork and we are truly excited about the new line-up.
