Dreamcatcher Tour Journal – #2

It’s 10:07 pm in Memphis, TN. I just got off stage after playing solo tonight and am sitting in our van writing this. Today marks day 6 of the Better Down South Tour and day 7 of us being on the road.
The last song I played tonight is called ‘Night Light.’ It explains how I feel about music and this tour, so I felt that the story of the song would be relevant to this post.
When I was 19, I was in a band with Craig (our bassist) and we had written this song for our EP. I had been going through a lot regarding if pursuing music was ‘smart’ or ‘wise’ and had some issues (at least from my perspective) with my family and friends regarding it. I wrote the song about how there is nothing else that makes sense for me. If you’ve spent time with me personally, I think you know how much I care about music and Dreamcatcher. It is the only thing that’s ever made sense and given me purpose. ‘Night Light’ is a song about not giving up, regardless of anything.. regardless of if anyone understands.
I am on tour with the best group of people in the world. Not only am I in a van with my 3 best friends, but TJ (drum tech/TM) and Anna Lee (photographer/best TM in the universe) are 2 of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with. And then there’s the tour package, Lion in the Mane kill it every night and are some of the best guys. Uh Huh Baby Yeah are the craziest band I’ve ever seen live and even sweeter guys.
I’ve been having a blast on this tour. Come see a show!
