Why You Should Watch: Sure it’s old, but the movie was never meant to be “realistic” or “scary”. It’s ridiculous in all ways. The evil spirits do some bizarre stuff to these characters and in true Sam Raimi form there are some absolutely insane gross out moments. This movie has some best practical effects (non-CGI) of any movie EVER, so if you are a fan of old school effects, it may be worth watching for that alone. This movie spews tons of blood and guts but it’s definitely more silly than scary, and is 1 of only a few films that intentionally walks that boundary and does it well. No, you don’t have to watch Evil Dead 1 first (although it’s also good), Evil Dead 2 is basically the bigger better sillier version of the first.
Favorite Line: “Someone’s in my fruit cellar! Someone with a fresh soul!”
