Track Premiere: Termination Dust — ‘Deep Deep Deep’

Posted: by The Editor

Alaska-based dream-pop trio Termination Dust have a new album titled Growing Down coming out January 24th via Glacial Pace. It’s safe to say that their surroundings have influenced their work a great deal—their genre-bending approach to songwriting embodies that of Anchorage where the group is originally from, which is coincidentally enough one of the most diverse places to live in the United States.

Today we’re stoked to be premiering “Deep Deep Deep”, a surging yet lyrically desolate showcase of the band’s capacity to channel their disparate influences into something thoughtful and unconventional. Sonically, the track is almost a complete one-eighty from “It’s Not a Place,” the album’s acoustic guitar-driven lead single. Beginning with a backdrop of pulsing electronica, the band gently nestles into a groove constructed from both organic and non-organic sounds. After quietly building throughout the opening two-thirds of the song, Termination Dust burst into something a little more raucous over its closing minute, bringing to mind long-forgotten bands of the late-aughts like Klaxons and The Bravery.
