Track Premiere: Mouth Movements—’Better Things’

Posted: by The Editor

Mouth Movements, from Columbus, OH, are the sort of band that pulls equally from all strains of emo. There’s enough bite to satisfy fans of more aggressive styles, there’re enough hooks for those who prefer the poppier stuff, and there’s enough twinkle to fancy people who still think it’s 2013. The band’s previous single, “Queen Size,” demonstrates this ably enough, but the band’s latest single is even better. Off their upcoming No Place Colder EP, “Better Things” is short and ever-building and gives a great taste of Mouth Movements’ sound. Vocalist/guitarist Walter Atkinson says about the song:

“‘Better Things’ was my attempt to write an opener that was short and simple both musically and lyrically. The song is about processing your own insecurities about the value you hold in a relationship and how that can really cloud your outlook.”

No Place Colder is out January 24.
