Track Premiere: Answering Machine – “Bad Luck”

Posted: by The Editor

Answering Machine has a message for you, and it’s that their single “Bad Luck” is ready with a record on the way. The Brooklyn outfit is working a new full length, and though the new track unpacks disillusionment, their energy is consistently upbeat.

“Bad Luck” is a push back against tough circumstances. Vocalist Samantha Campanile assures this departure from illusions of security broken by pain, in spite of defeat. “I’ll come back around / I’ll find a better sound” is a call to action and reassurance that despite feeling there’s nothing now, there can be something ahead. Matched by a bass-and-drums combo that gives the energy of running forward and away, “Bad Luck” is as motivating as it is catch-y.

“Bad Luck” will be available on October 26 on all streaming platforms. For now, give the single a listen below.

Stay tuned for Answering Machine’s debut full-length album in 2020.

If you’re headed to The Fest in Gainesville this November, be sure to catch their sets on Friday at the Wooly from 9:40 p.m.-10:10 p.m. and an acoustic set on Saturday at the Civic Media Center from 10:50 p.m.-11:20 p.m. If you want to feel haunted by this tight band, check out their Replacements cover set on October 31 at Bo Diddley Plaza.
