Track Premiere: Abe Hollow—”Golden Calf”

The first single from Adam Hirsch’s debut LP under the moniker Abe HollowA Palace In Time, is sonically indefinable. On “Golden Calf,” the multi-instrumentalist and staff engineer at Tiny Telephone Recording (the San Francisco studio owned by indie vet John Vanderslice) slips between crisp synth warbles and glowing guitar strums. His silky croon is kept high above the mix the entire time, gently tugging the song forward as echoey percussive embellishments sparkle atop the taut groove.

It’s an oddly constructed song from a record that Hirsch’s friend describes as a “Yiddish gothic-trip,” which sounds too bizarre to not be intriguing. The record will be out 7/10, and you can stream “Golden Calf” below:
