Horror Recommendation: Return Of The Living Dead (1985)

Return Of The Living Dead (1985); Directed By Dan O’Bannon

In One Sentence: A classic 80’s zombie romp that proves you should never get a job in a medical warehouse, nor should you ever have faith in the army’s transportation department.

Why You Should Watch: The above sentence alone should have peaked your trifling interest enough to watch this jewel of a film. The truth is there are so many reasons to watch Return Of The Living Dead that my feeble attempt to construct a small blurb about the film would not do it justice.

Teen punks and bumbling warehouse workers face-off against hordes of brain eating corpses. It’s enjoyable on every level. Whether is be the awesome soundtrack, the hilarious one-liners, the costume designs, the tar man, or a naked Linnea Quigley graveyard striptease, you can take pleasure in so many aspects of this film. This is a zombie movie that understands that the idea of zombies is kind of stupid. Why would shooting them in the head kill them?? In this film, it doesn’t. Nothing does.

I remember being terrified of this movie as a kid, because it made the zombies seem almost impossible to kill (which still kind of bothers me). Now I regularly show this movie to everyone I know at 4 a.m. on Saturdays. It is the perfect viewing experience for a beers and bad movies night. So don’t let me waste any more of your time. I’ve given you everything you need. Go and watch this movie.

Favorite Line: “It’s not a bad question, Burt.”
