Track Premiere: Boyfrienders – “Fushigi 45”

Posted: by The Editor

When Boyfrienders began, it was merely a vehicle for vocalist/guitarist Poppy Morawa’s solo music. Now, though, Boyfrienders has evolved into a fully-fledged rock and roll band, and their upcoming third LP Midwest Alive in Nightmares is their opus. Our first taste of the album was penultimate “The Moment,” featuring a vocal appearance from Alex Stoitsiadis of emo’s rising stars Dogleg.

Their latest offering “Fushigi 45” gives bassist Celeste Jones a chance to sing – the first time Morawa’s not handled leads on a Boyfrienders song, and proof of the new record’s more collaborative nature – and Morawa says, “This is my personal favorite song on the entire record.” It’s got a different feeling than “The Moment,” for sure, but it’s just as good.

Midwest Alive in Nightmares is out October 29 and available for preorder.
