Video Premiere: m!d!k — ‘Hypnotized’

Not all side projects are created equal—for every The Postal Service there’s a Chris Gaines. These types of endeavors usually operate at their highest capacity when an artist feels the necessity to create something new, to explore different avenues than the ones they’ve grown accustomed to. That’s certainly the case for m!d!k, the side project of Michael Kennedy, drummer for The Wonder Years, and we’re stoked to be premiering the video for “Hypnotized”, a highlight from his recently released With You EP.

“Hypnotized” sways back and forth with a slight uneasiness to it, rapidly propelling forward with clangs of electronic bass rubbing up against the menacing thud of programmed drums. Kennedy’s spectral vocals, which are ominous as fuck, is what I can only assume it would sound like to get sucked inside of a YouTube wormhole, leaving you in an almost trance-like state. The tracks accompanying visuals match this feeling, falling somewhere between a GoPro commercial and a teaser trailer for a found footage horror movie.
