Video Premiere: Honey & Salt—”Oyster”

Posted: by The Editor

Earlier this year Honey and Salt released their self-titled LP, which saw the band come into their own with a finalized lineup and an intense, progressive math rock sound. Now they are back with a music video for “Oyster” just in time for a run of Midwest tour dates.

The video serves as a reminder that, despite their huge sound, the band is a three-piece. Quick camera cuts serve to reinforce the frantic instrumentation, giving a hint at what audiences are in store for at live show. Each instrument is crisp and finds a way to stand out among the chaos. On the album, “Oyster” anchors the more pop-structured side a with the memorable, single-line chorus, “Significant, I will amend, the fear of loss, trembling.” The band themselves refer to the track as a sort of “mission statement” for the album and it certainly gives listeners an accurate sampling of what to expect.
