Track Premiere: Teen Agers – “Jar Breaker”

Posted: by admin

Florida’s Teen Agers have released a few cool EPs over the last 2 years, but they are now releasing their first LP since signing to Smartpunk. Today we are premiering the lyric video for their first single from the record, “Jar Breaker”. Its a track about doctors prescribing pills to deal with anxieties and depression that might be caused more by the environment we all live in than any chemical imbalances within us.

As drummer John Duvosin told us, “‘Jar Breaker’ tackles the touchy subject of doctors quickly writing scripts for anti-depressants or anti-anxiety drugs, when the real challenge is coming to grips with a ‘everything is fine’ or ‘living my best life’ fake persona that is encouraged when being real is something a lot of people don’t have time for. It’s as though we are the crazy ones for not choosing to feel numb to the terrible things that happen in life. Justin’s scathingly sarcastic chant of ‘Alright…’ throughout the track sums it up more than a journal entry stream of consciousness rant about how fucked up and fake our society has become in regards to mental health.”

A good punk track challenges the powers that be, and this is a good example. Check out the lyric video below:
