Posted: by The Editor

Road Riffs is a column where we give touring bands the floor to write about their ten favorite songs to jam in the van.

For this edition of Road Riffs we reached out to internet personality, professional model, and musician Chris Farren to tell us what he listens to when he’s cruising down the open road. This roadster lives a good majority of his life careening atop the concrete, so we figured he was qualified to recommend only the best soundtracks for parading across the pavement. Rev your engines, folks.

WILLIE NELSON – “ON THE ROAD AGAIN”

I love to travel. Cars, planes, trains, boats, little bikes, different cars, other boats. I love it all. There’s something about this song that really makes me feel like I’m traveling. Added bonus: some of the lyrics are about traveling!

LES ROCKETS – “ON THE ROAD AGAIN”

This great rendition by French space rock band LES ROCKETS really gets me geared up to hit the open road, flying down the highway, looking for new adventures. From filling up the gas tank to getting my passport stamped, I love every aspect of the open road.

BOB DYLAN – “ON THE ROAD AGAIN”

If anybody knows about taking rock and roll around the world, it’s Bob Dylan! This is a great song about traveling and being on the road by the incredible electric guitar virtuoso.

JOHN DENVER – “ON THE ROAD”

Here’s another great number about throwing caution to the wind and just getting out there on the open road!

Grateful Dead – “ON THE ROAD AGAIN”

Hey if there is one thing I’m grateful for, it’s this great song by the Grateful Dead!!! And they also do guitar solos on it, which is something they love to do and I am proud of them.

RINGO STARR – “WE’RE ON THE ROAD AGAIN”

Hey if anybody knows about taking rock and roll around the world, it’s Ringo! And a lot of people don’t know this, but before he won the hearts of the masses as Ringo Starr, this guy actually played drums for the Beatles!! Talk about a talented guy! And this song is about traveling so I really relate to it, on account of how much traveling I do.

NEIL YOUNG – “ON THE ROAD AGAIN”

Even though he’s from Canada, Neil Young still understands what it feels like to get out there on the open road, throwing caution to the wind and just going for it!!!

THE SONICS – “ON THE ROAD AGAIN”

Wow these rockers really love to travel! From tollbooths to motel rooms, there isn’t much about the open road that doesn’t feel like home to me, and this song reminds me of that.

NANCY SINATRA AND LEE HAZLEWOOD – “BACK ON THE ROAD”

Nancy Sinatra (no relation to Frank Sinatra) knows a thing or two about the open road, that’s for sure. She’s traveled all over the place. From Los Angeles to Foggy old London Town itself, this Jetsetter has seen it all. So who better than to pen this incredible anthem about hitting the open road, throwing caution to the wind, and just going for it!!!

BOYZ II MEN – “ON THE ROAD AGAIN”

Here’s a nice sexy song about being on the road again. Most people don’t know but R&B actually stands for “Road and Back (I’m on it)”. So, um, YEAH, I think Boyz II Men know a thing or two about being on the open road, doing adventure and flying down the highway.
