Charity Single Premiere: Mallcops – “Underwater”

Posted: by admin

Each year on Valentine’s Day, the record label Deep Sea Records does a charity release. This year, their fourth year of this tradition, there was a delay due to a health situation, but they were not going to be deterred. They’re releasing “Underwater” a new song from the Boston band Mallcops. The song will be available digitally on Bandcamp and they are taking preorders for heart-shaped lathe-cut 7” records of the single (which you can see above).

The song is a somber but beautiful love tune. Coated in mellow tones, the song describes “lovers in the ocean, caught in the lava, lovers underwater” a song about love until the last moment “in the event of a trans-continental missile”. If there was a love song for the dark times we live in, this is it.

All of the profits are being donated to Trans Lifeline, which is a suicide hotline for transgender individuals. You can read more about what they do here: https://www.translifeline.org.
