The Alt Weekly Roundup (11/11)

Posted: by admin

The Alt Weekly Roundup is just what it sounds like, a recap of a few of our favorite releases of the week. Here’s a taste of a few of gems from this week.

Songs That Saved My Life Compilation

The Songs That Saved My Life compilation features 12 tracks, including a gorgeous cover of Death Cab’s “Transatlantacism” by The Maine, a cover of Modern Baseball’s “Your Graduation” and Neck Deep’s rendition of Natalie Umbruglia’s “Torn.” Plus the compilation’s profits benefit a number of charities including Crisis Text Line, Hope For The Day, The Trevor Project and To Write Love On Her Arms.

Don’t Stop Now II Compilation

Another compilation, to benefit RAICES (Refugee & Immigrant Center for Education & Legal Services), dropped just before Election Day. The first edition of Don’t Stop Now was released on Inauguration Day last year, with proceeds going to the ACLU. Highlights of the new collection include Worriers covering Bleachers’ “Rollercoaster,” Rachel of Coping Skills covering Death Cab’s “The Ice Is Getting Thinner,” and tons more in the 33-track compilation.

Spielbergs – “4am”

The Norwegian group just announced the release of their debut album, due in February, and dropped the promising first track from the record, “4am.”

Alison Sudol – Moon EP

And finally, do you remember “Almost Lover” by A Fine Frenzy? And Queenie (Alison Sudol) from Fantastic Beasts? Yup, they’re the same person, and she just dropped her dreamy solo EP, Moon this month.
